School had finally been over and Matt found himself a bit stressed. He only had one person in his life he could count on, but he also realized he had to stop treating her like a child. She was getting older and hormones were defiantly part of high school. Matt looked up at the sky, he had went home directly after school and grabbed a bottle of whiskey out of his mother's liquor cabinet, then returned to Degrassi for soccer practice. After all that was over he just laid on the grass looking up at the sky, he concealed his drink in his water thermos.
Matt was just finally starting to feel a bit better about the situation, drinking wasn't always the way to kill his problems, a lot of the times he could be pushed too far and get aggressive but for now he was fine. Matt could hear footsteps and he looked up to see a girl, she was cute she looked really young though. Matt offered a smile, he could tell the chick was a bit timid and shy by the way she walked but, Matt could kill that awkwardness right away. "Hey girl, come over here, I don't bite...hard." Matt said sarcastically, his tone wasn't demanding or anything just inviting. When the girl joined him he pet the spot beside him taking a sip of his drink before speaking. "I'm Matt, what's your name?" He asked with a smile.

Honestly you'd think someone who hates being at a school where no one really bothered speaking to them would spend less time there. But her father was busy, and she wasn't going to nag him because she was having a hard time making friends. She would just wait for him, even if it meant wandering the school until she knew she couldn't get lost again. Even if it meant the soccer team finished practicing outside and she still hadn't heard from her father. Eventually even she lost her patience and decided to start walking across the fields to move on her way home. It was a far walk, but she knew she'd handled worse. She used to have a one-track mind while training, so jogging was nothing new. At least it wasn't getting dark yet.
She wasn't worried, not until she saw a body laying in the middle of the field, when it didn't move she just walked closer. Just to take a look in case. She was sure it was nothing but it didn't hurt to check if they were okay. If anything she was more moved out of curiosity as to why they were just there. Once she saw they were okay, she turned slightly to pretend she was just crossing the field but they called out at her and she winced because she'd been seen.
His choice of words was interesting. She could only quirk an eyebrow at him as she walked closer. She just supposed he was being friendly....or just plain weird. Either way, he invited her to sit and Lilly couldn't find the reason or words to say no. "Lilly," she answered Matt without another word as she looked at him, curious.

Matt caught on to her name but the way she had been acting made him push himself away. Maybe he did something wrong himself but whatever the case he was confused he wasn't used to girls giving him one word answers let alone feeling alone. So he'd try to be friendly despite his drinking. "Lilly, that's pretty. Your young...new even..." Matt mentioned as scratched his head. She must have been Abbie's age, Matt could tell mature from immature any say.
Matt sat up and raised his eyebrow. "You don't have to be scared or skeptical nor judgmental." Matt tried to negotiate. In all honest he wanted company and to make a friend. It was always good for him to have friends and when it came down to it he had a lot. But not many he could call loyal. "What brings you here?" Matt asked trying to make normal conversation.

Lilly had been unintentionally cold, a habit she'd formed since she got here. She cleared her throat, he replied. "Thanks," she answered his first response with a shy smile before nodding. "Yeah, I'm new to Degrassi. It's my first month here," she admitted.
Lilly grimaced when he called out her initial reaction to him. He was right, being skeptical was no way to make friends or get along with people. "You're right," she sighed, looking up from the ground into Matt's eyes. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to be so quiet. Or rude." She smiled apologetically, looking back at the floor. She wasn't used to people making the effort to talk to her. Her quiet nature when she was alone usually drove people away, not that she blamed them. She'd kept focused on catching up in all her classes and keeping in touch with her old friends. She didn't give Degrassi much of a chance, she was sad to admit to herself.
"I was cutting through the field to go on my way home," she answered him when his question interrupted her thoughts. "My dad hasn't come to pick me up yet and I figured I could use the walk."
