The halls of the school were empty in the bright and early mornings. She had to walk to school because her grandparents wouldn't drive her and she refused to ride the school bus. She'd rather walk in silence than be on a bus with a bunch of screaming idiots. Although, walking did have it's perks. She did get to be alone and she was able to think about what she had going on today or whether or not she was going to ditch school from a certain period on. She readjusted her hat and put her hands in the jacket pockets as she kicked a rock. Unlucky for her walking, it took her about fifteen minutes to just get to the destination. However, she figured that she got her excersise everyday and wouldn't get fat, well, at least for the rest of this year. College would be a different story she supposed. Her grandparents would send her through college, with the help of her parents from back home, but she still wasn't quite sure on her living arrangements quite yet. Her parents wanted her to live in an apartment close to campus, but her grandparents said that it wasn't that far a walk and it would save money. Annabelle felt like she was being a bother to them and wanted to move out, however, there was the money issue as well.
That was another down side to walking to school; thinking too much. A person should not do too much deep thinking before seven in the morning. It was probably bad for your health stated in some medical report across the world in China or Spain. However, before she knew it, she was to the school. She unzipped her jacket and the first person she ran into, a teacher, told her to remove her cap. She stated that it wasn't school hours yet and the teacher walked away angirly. Annabelle rolled her eyes and went to roam the school hall way for another fifteen minutes or so before she should head to her Calculus class. The blond girl had her hair straight today, not for any particular reason, she just felt like it. That wasn't entirely true either; today was a very special, yet sad day in her life. It was Emi's birthday. She would have been eighteen today. Great. Now she was going to get all upset and shitty for the rest of the day because she began thinking about Emi. Annabelle opened up her locker and stuck her head in so she would be left alone. Why would they do something stupid like that? Come on Annabelle. We both have our perments and we're just going across the street to the gas station.
The two fifteen year olds hopped in her grandparents' car and drove down the street. The trip there it wasn't a problem. The trip back however, was. The last words that she would ever remember coming from her best friend's mouth were I love you and give 'em hell. Annabelle took a deep breath and came back out of the locker. She was good at hiding emotions, but when it came to the accident with Emi, well, she had a hard time holding her tears back. She quickly wiped away the tears as she saw more and more people enter the hallways of the dumb high school. She cleared her throat and put books away and reorganized her locker. A group of three girls passed by and were talking loudly, Why does she wear that awful leather jacket every day? The eighties were so twenty years ago. She shook her head, "First of all, the eighties were thirty years ago dumb ass. Second of all, mind your own damn business before I become part of yours." She turned around and gave them all the death glare and they ran for cover. No wonder she didn't have many friends; then again, most people were bitchy and ignorant.
