Being an exchange student was certainly a whole new ordeal. This was only going to be her first day here, and she wasn't having a horrible time yet. Not a great time either, but no, it wasn't horrible. She had been here with her host family for a few days so far, and school was just starting. She made friends pretty easy, usually. But having been home schooled her entire life was where it got hard for her. She was going to be going to public school, and she wasn't sure what it was about. She had seen it on television and stuff, and it quite frankly was a little bit scary. However, she also knew that nothing on TV was real. So she wasn't going to be too worried about it. You couldn't worry about something that you didn't even know what it was going to be like, right?
She had just gotten here that morning. She had spent a good majority of the morning fussing and starting to unpack her bags. She had probably packed way too much, but she also had a good majority of money with her to actually buy clothes. That was going to be a nessecity, or so she figured. Clothes where a huge part of her life, as it was many girls. She actually felt nervous, though. It was nearing evening, and she was still a bit nervous about actually talking to most of the family. She had jet lag seriously, and the time change felt strange. But this was her first time in Canada, so that was probably a given.
It was about six in the evening, and she decided to make her way down stairs. She hadn't been holed up in her new room all day, but for a good part of it. The family seemed nice enough, but she was overcome with a strange sense of shyness she wasn't used to. And she was going to have to speaking English all the time now. Her father didn't speak much french, but that was okay, mostly because he was hardly ever around. She sighed as she made her way down the stairs, and waved shyly at those who where in the living room. "Good evening." She said, her obvious thick french accent buzzing in her words, and she hoped that nobody was going to have trouble understanding her words. She stopped at the bottom tof the stairs and clenched her hands in front of her, feeling her face turn a slight shade of pink. She really had no idea what to say, but she let her bright blue eyes flow over those who where around, and kind of hoped one of them would say something. "Anything.. exciting going on?" She decided to pipe up, raising an eyebrow.

There was a pretty big thing happening downtown. The music was playing loud, dancers were all over the place, face paint balloons. It was some kind of festival, the many smells of food filled the air. Alex walked the streets looking at all the attractions, this was madness and he had to rush home to get his check. Of course he'd hit up the local gym and go for a dip first. Alex walked one the side walk looking into the little shops, even though he wasn't brand new to Toronto he didn't spend much time in town. He was always getting held up after school, either tutoring younger class men or for swim meets. Yet they didn't seem to bother him. Alex enjoyed helping others for the most part. Finally he arrived at the gym, he held his duffel bag close walking into the building allowing his membership card to be tapped. Then to the locker room it was, he changed into swim trunks and went to the pool area. He picked a line that wasn't occupied and dove in, barely creating a splash, he kicked his feet gliding across the water almost, after 5 laps he look a breather holding on to the side of the pool, he swam some more then headed to the shower. Clean he applied gel to his hair, then made his way to the streets. The festival would be better when it got a little darker. He noticed with time the crowd got bigger.
The vibration in his pocket startled him, and he looked at his text. A new girl would be staying with him. Alex raised his eyebrow, what was this? A new change to his life he'd have to go home and have dinner learn more about what a host family was. Alex walked home, it took him a little while yet it was evening now. Walking up the front porch stairs to his house and entering he went directly to the living room. Alex took a seat on the sofa and his parents briefly discussed what was going on. Nothing to worry about right, just a girl living with him. How would that effect his social life. He wondered the sound of footsteps caught his attention and he looked up to see a girl. Her words were so polite and it caused him to snicker a little. "Have a sit." He said his Russian accent apparent in his words, he pointing next to him. "There is some kind of festival in town, we could head down after dinner. I'll show you around a bit." Alex said trying not to be rude to his guest. "I'm Alex." He introduced himself looking into her blue eyes. This was a bit awkward, but some of the best things came from awkward situations.

So this was going to be new for all of them. She knew her host family was a first time host family, and she also knew they where Russian. That was okay, though, it might be nice to be around another family who wasn't totally Canadian. Noelle was social, so she figured she could make friends. And there was going to be somebody her age in the same house, so that might make it easier. She knew it was going to be a boy, she didn't know his name, or exactly how old he was, or anything about him. But she figured with her luck he was probably some unattractive guy who did nothing but play video games all day.
Wrong. She was way wrong. And she knew that when he greeted her. His accent was actually attractive, and she just smiled at him. "Uh, Merci." She said, hesitantly taking a seat by him. She crossed her legs and placed her hands on her knee's, running her nails quietly along the seam on her jeans. Yeah, you could say she was nervous. But who wouldn't be? This was her first day in a whole new country with people whom she had never met. "Oh." She said, smiling a little more genuinly now and turning to look at him. "That sounds uh, tres amusant." Sometimes she didn't realize when she was speaking French, it just sort of slipped out. She tried to stop it, but it just didn't happen.
This was pretty awkward, no lie. He was cute, though, and it took all her gusto not to legit start checking him out while they where sitting there. That would be innapropriate, Noelle. Her subconscience seemed to be saying to her. And that was true, it would be, since she was pretty much just a school project. Explore a school in Canada, that was all this was for right. "I'm Noelle." She said, smiling again, her cheeks flushing that slight shade of crimson once more. "Pleasure to meet you." She held his eyes for a moment, before pulling her own away. That was getting a bit awkward. "So, you have a very lovely house. It's very aimiable for you to let me stay here for the school year." She said, turning her gaze around the room for a few minutes, before landning back on Alex. She was used to living in a mansion, but this would do, too.

The thought of having a complete stranger living with him made him a little uneasy. Thing were going to have to change. This would be a little different if she was a boy, but he;d have to find a way to deal with things. Alex would have to be aware she would be home, he could wear inappropriate sleep where. He had to get changed in the bathroom, just a whole bunch of changes. The music couldn't be up loud when his parents were not home, he just had to learn the respect of being a child with a sibling in a way. The girl had beautiful eyes he thought as he examined her. She shouldn't have too much trouble adjusting to a new school. He hadn't really yet things were different between girls and guys. Alex didn't make many guys friends unless through the weight room or the pool. Most of his friends were females and it was easier for males to get along with females then other females. Alex licked his lips before speaking. "It is nice to meet you as well." He responded to her courtesy. This was new most people were not this proper with him. When his parents left the room he looked Noelle over. "You don't have to be so proper with me, you know this?" Alex asked. It was just a little odd for someone his age talking as if they were an adult but he remembered how proper people were in Europe for the most part.
Alex leaned back in thought of what to say next. When she said it was nice of his family to host her he nodded. "No kidding, I swear I had no idea til today." Alex admitted looking into his lap. "Yet new experiences are always fun too." He said standing up he was too anxious to be sitting down. "Well now that we broke the ice, how about we just go into town. We can eat there and I'll give you a tour. I mean it's the least I can do when I first got here I wish I had one." Alex said with a smirk, he would go change into something more casual for the night. "Put on something pretty yet casual, bring a sweater we'll be gone for a while." Alex stated and then he disappeared up the stairs and into his room. His fitted jeans and a white v neck colored t shirt completed his outfit. He put on his white on white Nikes and spent some time in the mirror shaving up and doing his hair. When done he walked down the stairs waiting by the door, he grabbed his check and looked over it. Tonight would be a good night he thought. Alex walked to the closet grabbing his cardigan sweater and waiting for the door for Noelle to join him. Once done he walked out to his white Acura RSX. He opened the passenger side for Noelle then walked to the drivers side starting the car. "Ready for the night of your life?" Alex asked pulling out of the drive way on the main road.
