Taking Chances

Lilly walked in, slightly intimidated. Normally she would've been happy to be walking in on rehearsal, but the day's rehearsal was almost over. She was late because she'd ended up wandering the school looking for the room she was supposed to go to. It turned out to be the actual school theater she was told to go to, not just a classroom. The place was a pretty big hard to miss room, basically on its own number system because she just couldn't find it.

The principal told her when she transferred that she'd have to ask the club leaders and captains whether she could join late. She got the name of her first hunt, Eli Goldsworthy. Drama club was her first try and it was the least likely, but that wasn't going to stop her. Her only hesitation was because she hadn't been prepared. She had no idea how this was going to work out, if she had to audition or if she'd just be told she could join right off the bat. She knew she had to make a good argument for herself and she'd learned how to fight for herself long ago, so she just hoped that'd be enough.

Looking in while standing at the door frame, she saw someone inside not making a move to leave. It looked like everyone else was almost out the door. She figured it wouldn't hurt asking them where to find Eli since she only had so much time to catch up and ask. Hopefully he wouldn't be in a hurry if he was already out the door.

"Excuse me," Lilly piped up from a few steps up. Hurrying down the wide steps, she tried to maintain eye contact with the boy she was speaking to. "Would you please point me in the right direction quick? I'm looking for Eli Goldsworthy, this lady at the front desk told me I should speak to him."

Simple, he had lunch with the girl, Becky really started to push his buttons when they did though but Eli figured the best approach would be to try to get to know the girl. The talk of religion, and the way she dissed his Gothic ways pissed him off. Plays were her thing? He found that hilarious, then she kept going on with her ego and this is where he snapped. Eli smacked his salad at her storming out of the cafeteria, his mania taking a tole on him. This was it, he was done trying to play nice. Eli walked down the hallway with such fury in his eyes, the theatre. The only place he could go where he felt he'd be able to calm himself. Eli walked into his own realm. This was where he spent his life, the theatre where he was inspired and wrote the plays and Becky talking about the way he wanted to interpret things got him upset. She had no right, she was new let alone able to have an opinion on his work.

Eli dropped his bag then walked over to the piano, he stroked the keys and played for a bit soothing the anxiety from earlier. His mind was coming to a median and it felt nice as he played a couple catchy show tunes. Eli stood up walking over to his messenger bag, he pulled out his bipolar meds popping them, then swallowing them down with a bottle of water. The theater was set up with seats and he sat in his normal middle row where he felt he got the best view of his productions then he heard footsteps. If it was Becky he'd rip her a new one, this angered him a bit then Eli turned around looking at a young brunette girl and he licked his lips and thought for a moment.

"That I am, the one and only Eli Goldsworthy." He said in an announcer voice. He could be quite sarcastic at times but he figured she was going to ask him something about the drama club. "You don't need to search anymore." He said Eli crossed his arms over his chest and shifted his weight to one side, he shouldn't assume so he'd ask. "...And who might you be, and what can I assist you with?" Eli said, he liked to the point people unless it was in a disrespectful manner. He flipped his hair out of his face and awaited a response.

"Oh," Lilly replied, completely caught off guard. It figured, who else would linger in the room but the director himself? "Lovely." She answered him with a nervous smile as she forgot to introduce herself until he asked. She stuck out her hand. "I'm Lilly, nice to meet you," she told him, giving him a weak handshake. She was too nervous to care. This is wonderfully awkward, she thought to herself. She had to resist saying it out loud.

"I hope I wasn't interrupting you or anything. I just had a question for you," she started. She couldn't finish as she stayed silent for a second, unsure how to continue. She could only take up his time for so long, she figured. This was the longest she dared to speak to any student since she got to Degrassi. "I was just wondering if auditions are closed for the drama club's production. I just transferred to Degrassi this month, so I had to ask."

Lilly couldn't help sounding so nervous, she was just not ready to hear a no. This was the one thing she wanted to do most. Even if the auditions were closed, she'd fight for it. He seemed nice, not that that mattered right now. She was still intimidated. It wasn't until she had to prove herself that she'd get her head in the game.
