The school day had gone by rather fast and after she had cheer practice. Chantal never thought her life would revolve around fitting in, boys and cheer leading. Life before she had gotten to Degrassi was something she loved. Horses, rolling plains, the small towns, baling hay. Anything that wasn't the city life was what she adored. Being a country girl up north had it's ups and downs. The repetitive asking for her to say things due to her accent got annoying. But it made her feel unique at the same time. Chantal wasn't in her most spirited mood. She did her normal set of back flips stretches and sprints. Though her soul wasn't here her heart was and that was what mattered. She may have been popular from dating Noah Olivier freshman year. She might have had a large variety of friends yet that only took a girl so far. She made her way to the locker room and into the shower. She said nothing about what bothered her deep down just hid behind a smile as most girls did when something bothered them. After her shower she toweled off and put oh a pair of blue jeans, a black and white tank top with her black cow girl boots. She waited til everyone else left the locker room before exiting herself.
Soon after she found her walking the track, the sun had started to set and the red passions that painted on the shy had her dazzled. Chantal walked up the bleachers to the top and over looked Degrassi. It was certainly no Nashville but she made the best of it. Thing was she missed her home life, her friends and horse back riding. Even after her accident she vowed she get back on a horse she just needed to find a stable. A single tear dripped down her porcelain skin due to being homesick and she let it fall. Tough at most times only went so far yet she heard a noise that caused her to wipe her cheek. Chantal looked around wondering who might be still around this evening. "Hay, Who's there?" She asked her southern drawl rattling her words. Her baby blue eyes locking on a dark haired girl. "You can come join me if you'd like." Chantal assured hoping the other girl would keep her company. This girl was out of her normal circle of friends the thing was Chantal loved having a new chance she never set herself to one group of people though she had of recently. Maybe good could come out of having a new friend.

Stevie taped her pen against her noted book in irritation. Tick tick tick the clock slowly crept closer to the end of detention. How was she to know making old breakfast club jokes would have irritated one of her teachers and telling a teacher that she looked fat in that dress would get her detention for the day. Next time she was gonna keep that to herself. The time actually passed fast since she had been in detention, but like everything the last few minutes felt like it was taking an eternity to go by. Glancing around the room she saw the usual group of people jocks, jerks, and the first timers other than the ones who spent the school year here. She bit her lip and looked at the clock thinking that she could magically speed up time with her eyes. She scrunched up her nose and frowned. Turns out that's not her power. Doodles made the rest of the time pass. Drawing musical notes on the cover of her notebook and some music lyrics. Finally, it was time for her to leave she hoped at least one of her brothers stayed after. She threw on her leather jacket that went well with her blue jeans and grey converse sneakers.
Stevie walked towards the parking lot with her cellphone in hand. Her phone lit up and she got the text she dreaded look like she wasn't going to have a ride for a while. Only one thing for her to do while she wait wonder. She found herself walking towards the track, the sun made her stop and look in awe. The colors were truly breathtaking made the wait will be worth it. Her legs felt like they had a mind of their own leading her to the bleachers. Hazel eyes connected with baby blue. Stevie sucked in a quick breath standing like a deer in headlights for a moment. Is she crying? She exhaled and slowly walked up to the girl and sat down."Hey um ... are you ok?" Stevie questioned and bit her bottom lip. She seen her around school before. For some reason Stevie felt a ping of concern for the girl it was kind of strange. She wasn't really this shy so she quickly shook it away. Her hand slowly wiped away one of the tears she missed."What happened to make you cry?"She smiled up to her trying to cheer her up a little.

The sight of the girl actually coming up the bleachers to sit with her made her smile a little. Chantal straightened herself out and pushed her hair behind her ears. This was it, she hated explaining her inner thoughts about home to people yet the girl didn't look like she meant any harm. Chantal was a loner when she wasn't at school, she wasn't used to people besides Noah caring about her. Chantal smiled and looked down at her boots for a moment then let her eyes meet back with the girls. "I'm alright, just a little homesick is all." Chantal explained it was nice to have someone nice to talk to. She thought for a moment and twirled a lock of her damp hair. "I'm Chantal." She introduced herself with a smile rubbing the other girls shoulder. Chantal was always a hands on type of girl, she was used to people yelling at her if they didn't want to be touched. "You ever feel like you try so hard to fit it. But you yourself personally know you don't belong when everyone else believes you do?" She said lost in her thoughts laying back on the bleacher seat, the cold metal didn't phase her as she looked up at the moon. It was going to be a pretty night. It wasn't like Chantal just acted a certain way for her popularity she was herself for the most part but she had high expectations from her click of friends. Chantal shook herself from her thoughts and figured it would be best to change the subject.
"You looked like you were wondering aimlessly down there." Chantal commented It was sort of late for the girl to be out there as it was her her herself. "You need a ride or something, we can hang out more then I can take you home." She suggested, it was getting a little nippy outside, and if the bugs started biting she wouldn't be too happy. She shop up from her laying down position and put his hand on her hip. "You can't tell me you like mosquitoes." Chantal said light heatedly with a grin. She took the girls hand and walked with her to the parking lot. She looked at her big black Dodge Ram 4x4 Noah had got her for her 16th birthday. She took off her shoes tossing them in the bed of the truck and walked barefoot to the passenger side letting Stevie enter her truck. She loved being a country girl. She walked to the drivers side and hopped in turning in the heat. "Taste of music? Or is anything fine?" She asked wondering what Stevie would want to listen to, if she had it her way it woud always be on the country station.

A smirk grew across Stevies lips when she noticed the girl straighten herself up. She really liked the little accent the girl had it was kind of cute. Did she just think this girls accent was cute? Stevie just shook her head and pushed it to the back of her mind. She had to ignore thoughts like that for now."Really where are you from?"She was kind of curious to know a little more about this country girl for now. Watching as she twirled her damp hair around. Stevie smiled as she rubbed her shoulder."I'm Stevie."Stevie tilted her head to the side slightly scrunching up her nose in a cute way. She didn't mind the girl touching her she was friendly with most people. Had she ever felt that way before? She felt that way every day when she was in junior high. She tried to fit in being a cheerleader it was fun at first. People doing what every you say and laughing at anything you say. But she couldn't handle it she liked music and she got tired of spending most of her time cheering for jerks. But would she do it all over again heck yeah in a heart beat."Yeah I felt like that before, But I always thought about it like this, if I never lose sight of who I am then I'm just fine."She ruffled her hair a little and leaned back on the bleachers, enjoying the cool feeling on her lower back. She looked up at the moon enjoying the sight."Well that's what I think. But if your friends can't see how you truly feel. I don't think your that good of friends."She felt really cool right now like she was really wise for her age. Maybe she could try out for the cheer squad again. She could get really fit again.
"Oh you saw me. Yeah I was waiting for one of my dumb brothers."She rolled her eyes just thinking about it. When she suggested giving her a ride Stevie sat up and gave her a huge hug."I think I love you now Chantal."Now she didn't have to wait for one of her brothers."I hate them."She stuck out her tongue playfully. She quickly text to one of them telling them now to show up. Her hand felt warm in Chantals she willingly took it and followed her to her car. Stevie stared in awe at her car her jaw dropped a little. She was surprised to see that type of car. When she got in she settled into the relaxing as she felt the heat on her cool skin."Anything you want is fine. Nice car by the way."She gave her a smirk. She wanted to see what Chantal liked."So what's your hometown like?"She rocked a little to the beat enjoying the music.

Where was she from? "Imagine a place that's always warm, with no highrises no body wears shoes and life isn't about what name brand your wearing. You can walk down the street and make a friend with a wave. No pushing yourself to be no one your not. That's the place I'm from. Knoxville Tennessee." Chantal explained giving Stevie a mind image of what she herself considered to be perfect. She looked down at the track and nodded. "Of course I saw you it's be hard to miss when your the only one out there." Chantal teased twirling a lock of the girls hair. When Stevie said she loved her she puffed out her chest a little and ate the compliment. "Why thank ya, thank ya very much." She said impersonating Elvis. After the walked through the field and getting a good grip on what Stevie was saying she nodded. "It's not really that they don't understand or see how I feel. I don't always open up about my feelings yet you must have caught me on a good day." Chantal said shoving her new friend playfully. This was true she never really did opened up to people about being homesick but Stevie caught her crying, it was just something she had to confess and get off her chest. Then overall it felt better.
At the car, she looked over at Stevie. "Hope you like country music Suga." Chantal said reaching up putting on her favorite music station. She drummed on her steering wheel for a few moments then smiled over at Stevie. "Thank you, I love this car. A present from the Ex." Chantal said with a light laugh. Noah always found ways to keep himself in her life. "It's like every time he screws up here is a new car baby I'm sorry." Chantal teased she was open about her relationship with Noah, he was pretty popular as was she so most of the time people knew who she was talking about. The scenes he made in the hall and during her cheer meets was torture enough. Back tracking about her home state she smiled, pulling out of the school parking lot. She would just drive for now until she and Stevie found something to do. "Well it's quite beautiful. If you like open ranges and farm animals it's the place you want to be. The moon looks so different down south because all the city air pollution doesn't cloud the sky." Chantal explained. "You can hear the crickets at night, and it's very rare you hear a cop siren." she explained thinking. "So what do you want to do? Do you like to party I mean I have drinks at my house, we can gossip. I can do your nails anything." Chantal asked, she wasn't in a mood to spend the night on the town just getting to know her new friend would be nice.
